“This entire publication is full of extremely intelligent observations about human affairs. Musically, the prog-metal entourage, on the one hand, adds spontaneity and some power to the message, and on the other hand, the metal expression brings to mind the impression of the impossibility of freeing oneself from the presented image of the world. The loudness, noise, rush and pace create a feeling of being stuck, of being locked in a vicious circle that is impossible to break. There is no moment to breathe here, no slowing down. Power, rhythm and expression define this release and make you want to listen to it and at the same time turn it off at some point, to make a break, if not emotionally, then at least technically, to break out of this cycle of emotions. ” - MLWZ
“Com “Sonnets from the Drowsiness”, a Pentesilea Road alcança um ótimo equilíbrio entre estrutura complexa, melodia envolvente e peso emocional”
— Progland
“Overall, Sonnets from the Drowsiness is not an album that will be appreciated by casual prog listeners or instrumental junkies looking for a virtuosity show-off. It is a descent, almost medical, into the lyricism of drowsiness and clouded consciousness, where Pentesilea Road deliver their most mature and cerebrally hard work to date”
— rockandroll.gr
“En un género obsesionado con la complejidad, Sonnets from the Drowsiness nos recuerda que las progresiones más profundas suelen estar en el interior.” - El templario del Metal
“‘Sonnets From the Drowsiness’ is a prog feast; ambitious, melodic, and crafted with care. Yes, it is a long winding prog road you find yourself on. Perhaps a bit too long, but the album offers so much wonderful moments that every moment of the day you can refer to one of the tracks aligning with your mood perfectly. The diversity and wideness are tremendous and executed with grace. Pentesilea Road have carved out their own niche, and it’s well worth the ride. Give this album a spin, more than once.”
“An ABSOLUTE masterpiece, just like the first one! ”

“Despite having a style that has been widely explored by other bands, Pentiselea Road manages to sound very original, with a clean and pristine production where each instrument is allowed to breathe and expand freely.”
Some Reviews
“Say no more and push the play button!”
“"Sonnets from the Drowsiness" is a mature and well-crafted work that confirms Pentesilea Road's place in the field of contemporary progressive rock. With compositions that challenge the listener to delve deeper and discover new aspects with each listen, the album offers a rich musical experience that should not be missed!”
“Sonnets From The Drowsiness is a good release by Pentesilea Road. For me, it is just a little too long. I must say I never thought I would be writing this in a review. But I did not find any songs that can be labelled as fillers. Sometimes I just start listening at song number seven or twelve instead of at the beginning because over one hundred minutes back to front is a bit too much. Still this album found its way to my ears many times and I enjoyed every spin. Even if the single Pulse does not appeal to you, do yourself a favour and listen to the album.” - Edwin Roosjen
“An ABSOLUTE masterpiece, just like the first one! Over 100 minutes of awesome prog rock/metal. The vocals are solid and I like them. References: Vanden Plas, Everon, Subsignal, Fates Warning etc. This will end up high in my yearlist for sure. ”
“Walking on the hard-rocking edge of progressive world, a wandering traveller may stamble upon a rare gem called «Pentesilea Road». And he’d be lucky! For he’d be on the threshold of a wonderful musical journey. Join us on this road trip to discover the diluted city of Pentesilea! ”
“When Post-Progressive Rock meets the finer elements of Progressive Metal and it polished with a seasoning of Rush's Geddy Lee alongside influences that are reminiscent to former Queensryche front man Geoff Tate, then you have a product of musical mastery pushing itself forward with an aspiring vision and a determined nature.”
“A debut album that makes you sit up and take notice and whets your appetite for much more. Actually, all that's missing now is a tour with Fates Warning”
“Over the course of the album its meaning does become clear, as several post-rock passages and progressive (metal) movements reveal themselves, the latter instantly conjuring up recollections of Dream Theater in the excellent instrumental overture Memory Corners. Layered with melody and instantaneously catchy from the tantalising synth that brings flashy AOR vibes, it shows superb interplay and a great variety of atmospheres.” - Jan Buddenberg

“Insomma un debutto indubbiamente convincente quello dei Pentesilea Road che, dal nulla, ci regalano un lavoro, forse un pò troppo prolisso, ma veramente bello e, considerando che si tratta di un esordio assoluto, per certi versi sorprendente, per passione, vivacità, ispirazione, ma soprattutto molto elegante, un disco consigliato a tutti gli amanti di quel progressive metal incisivo, ma al tempo stesso raffinato. ”

“To all proggers - check this out, it is one of the prog records of the year! Check out the ‘Shades of the Night’.”
“Musically the “Pentesilea Road” is great progressive album, the very definition of awesome music craftsmanship. I will almost dare to say, with all due respect and having full consciousness of my words that this record may be the closest thing that will have to a new Fates Warning album-in its own unique way, until they release one in a couple of years. And I am not saying that because Ray Alder’s and Mark Zonder’s appearance. The compositions are defined by a subtle complexity. They are multilayered and subconsciously you understand that what you are listening to is not just a simple pattern but they are so carefully constructed that is really easy to follow a song from start to finish. Every part has its own distinct feature, a beautiful melody, a steady riff or recurring drum beat with a few fills, a trace that helps the listener to focus upon it while at the same time experiences a great diverse composition. Pentesilea Road emerge with an excellent, diverse debut. A crossroad of inspirations, from jazz and blues licks to progressive metal to post rock soundscapes, this debut has everything and is a must listening experience.”
“Pentesilea Road legen ein wechselhaftes Debüt vor, welches durchaus ein paar Höhepunkte vorweisen kann, insgesamt aber sehr spannungsarm daherkommt. Prog-Fans können nicht nur wegen Ray Alder durchaus mal reinhören, sollten aber keine großen Überraschungen erwarten. Von mir gibt es sechseinhalb von zehn Bängs.”
“Pentesilea Road is a marvellous debut album, read: a great melodic album, maybe not always very original, but the guitar work is stunning, the song writing is excellent and of course mister Alder does the rest; another prog rock/metal gem from Italy: buy or die!! ”
“Aliás, poderíamos ter suposto isso pelo facto de Vito ser um talentoso multi-instrumentista mas não há exageros nem se sente a necessidade de exibir qualidades técnicas. 8.5/10” - Fernando Ferreira

“Ou seja, o Pentesilea Road entrega um típico álbum de rock/metal progressivo, desde o belo trabalho gráfico da capa do álbum, que vai agradar em cheio os fãs do gênero, mas não irá angariar admiradores fora deste universo musical.”
“I wouldn't say that it's a unique project. It's what the band does on this album that's been missing a lot in the music industry lately. And that is to just let your heart tell a story. Without compromising in the name of sales and marketing. Even if you're not into the progressive genre, I think you should check this one out. Especially if you're out for a walk, and you just want to leave the mundane behind for a while and daydream.”
“Highly recommend it, one listen and you will be definitely rewarded.”
“Very good first effort which shows that there are great prog hopes for the future!”
